Denise Marie Lukavic

Denise Marie Lukavic, 52, resident of Bristol for 25 years, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born October 9, 1973, in Sleepy Hollow, NY, daughter of John and Lynn Lukavic of Wappingers Falls, NY.

Denise graduated from Roy C. Ketcham Senior High School in Wappingers Falls, NY, class of ’91. She played softball for the town of Wappingers and the RCK High School. She then went on to attend Dutchess Community College. Denise had worked her entire career in the footwear industry. Recently Denise had become a TikTok content creator, where she developed a loving and supportive community surrounded around sharing landscape videos with a focus on water. She was also an active member of Terryville Fish and Game Club, Inc. where she served on the board. 

Denise is survived by her partner, Thomas Markwica; her parents John and Lynn Lukavic; her brother John P. Lukavic (Jennifer); her nieces Nora and Mary Grace Lukavic; her uncle Robert Lukavic; her aunts Joanne Trotter (Pete) and Dianne Lyles; her cousins James Lyles, Dawn Suter, Lisa Ruiz, Jeanine Suter and Angela Johnson. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Roderick E. Suter, Helen Suter, Joseph F. Lukavic, and Anne Lukavic, her uncles, John Suter and Roy E. Suter, and her cousin Peter Michael Trotter.

Family and friends may visit at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 5-7 PM, with a service at 7PM. She will be laid to rest in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, NY.
