Carol (Miastkowski) Hansen (86) of Rocky Hill, CT, wife of 33 years to the late Howard J. Hansen, passed away on February 20, 2026.
Carol was born at Hartford Hospital December 25, 1939, to Joseph and Edith (Klepps) Miastkowski of Terryville, CT. She was the first of 6 Christmas babies born in Hartford that year. A graduate of Terryville High School, Class of 1957, she was a long-time employee of CL&P/Northeast Utilities and later of South End Autobody in Rocky Hill. Carol will be remembered for her quick wit, independent nature, love of the outdoors and, until recently, motor trips all over the U.S. For many years she enjoyed bowling, skiing and golf.
Carol leaves Howard’s sons, H. Peter Hansen of Fox Lake, IL and Richard (Cecile) Hansen of Newington, CT; grandsons in IL, Keith (Carrie) Hansen and Clinton (Dana) Hansen and granddaughters in MA, Brenda Hansen and Rebecca (Ichiro) Ashihara. She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren, Madison (Tyler) Avery, Austin (Shea), Trevor, McKenna, Tyler (Lucia), Jake and Amelia Hansen, Noby, Koji, and Taizo Ashihara, and two great, great grandsons, Parker and Keegan Hansen.
Also left to mourn her passing, her sister Viginia and brother-in-law, Marvin Roberts of Cape Cod, MA, nieces Sue McWhinnie, Lynn Hartwell-McClain, Shelley and Kristine Pajeski, nephew Glenn Roberts, six grandnephews, one grandniece, a brother-in-law Paul Pajeski of Terryville as well as several cousins and close friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was pre-deceased by two sisters, Joan Pajeski and Jean Quinn, a daughter-in-law, Karen Hansen and brother-in-law Phil Quinn.
A life-long LCMS Lutheran and former Sunday school teacher, Carol was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8 Maple St, Terryville, CT, where her funeral will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Calling hours at the Scott Funeral Home, Main St, Terryville, will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 4-7 PM. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Terryville, in the Spring.
